QuickBird program data

QuickBird

Until recently QuickBird satellite (QuickBird-2) has been delivering the highest resolution imagery (61 cm) available to commercial users. The satellite was successfully launched on October 18, 2001 from Vandenberg Air Force Base (USA, California). It is a joint project of DigitalGlobe (up to September 2001 named EarthWatch) and its investors, including Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp., Hitachi Software Engineering Co. Ltd., Morgan Stanley and Telespazio S.P.A/Eurimage Investment.

This state-of-the-art satellite is the follow-on to the QuickBird-1 satellite that failed to reach the orbit back in November 2000 after launching from Plesetsk, Russia.

Japanese corporation Hitachi Software Engineering Co. Ltd. (Hitachi Soft), that emerged on the world software market in 1970 is the lead reseller of space data and derivative end-products of DigitalGlobe in the Asian region. On October 10, 2007 ScanEx R&D Center and Hitachi Soft signed the license agreement entitling ScanEx to provide DigitalGlobe/Hitachi Software products to Russian users.
