ScanEx R&D Center introduces the new version of ScanMagic v.1.8 software
 |
ScanMagic® v.1.8. – is easy-to-use and powerful software for viewing, analyzing and processing of space images. ScanMagic® software application was designed based on the cutting-edge data processing technology, has a well balanced, operative and intuitive graphical user interface, allows for setting user’s preferences and importing more than 60 generic/GIS/RS image formats, with immediate opening of images regardless of their size and direct access to any raster data formats without data conversion.
|
The software supports exporting to the commercial off-the-shelf GIS and RS packages, including ESRI, ENVI, ERDAS, PCI, ERMAPPER and so on and allows for exporting compressed data formats (e.g. JPEG2000 and ECW).
New ScanMagic v.1.8 features
- The new software version has an option to load new data types and formats enabling to perform a complete cycle of data processing inside the software: geo-reference, radiometric and geometric corrections, etc. Import of images of different processing levels is added (fig.1): RADARSAT (CEOS L1), EROS (EROS L0, EROS L1A, EROS L1B), SPOT-2/4 (SEGMENT L0, SPOT DIMAP), IRS-P6 (FAST FORMAT, SUPER STRUCTURED), LANDSAT-5 (STREAM L0).
- Support of importing the popular MrSID format with data wavelet. MrSID (Multiresolution Seamless Image Database) format enables to get the best image compression quality. For example, ortho-rectified mosaics of the entire images of LANDSAT 4, 5, 7 systems are stored using this popular format.
- Easy and quick conversion of different values from one presentation (units of measurement) into another - dates/time, arc values, distances, geographical coordinates, color components, Sun position for the user-defined geographical location at the specified time - using Converting Tools.
- A new user-friendly tool Coordinates Converter is created in the program to recalculate coordinates from one map projection into another.
Coordinates Converter enables to do the following:
- projection parameters import/export;
- recalculate separate coordinates or a list of coordinates, open a list from a file, save conversion results to file;
- define different projections using logical and simple list of diverse parameters;
- view specific projection parameters in standard PROJ4 and WKT formats, support to EPSG coordinate system;
- user-defined projection settings and many more.
- New functional segments are added to the program:
- Profile: enables to draw the scalable pixel profile lines (fig.2);
- Numeric value: the tool of channel-by-channel analysis of profile lines for the selected pixel and its neighbors by copying the table of selected brightness counts into the clipboard (fig. 3);
- Scattergram: scattergram generation (2D histograms) with their 3D visualization for in-depth analysis of the raster properties (fig. 4). Helps to visually analyze the conformity of different spectral bands in combination and to detect objects on the image.
- Image visualization tools are enhanced. Besides standard Grayscale and RGB modes, Index Color image presentations are added with an option to edit the color table (fig. 5).
- Ground control point selection mechanism is improved: in the new version, GCPs can be set not only within the limits of one window. In particular, a coordinate system of a simple raster image can be specified using a geo-referenced image.
- A new option is introduced to cut and paste an image fragment with initial set of channels into a new window for further processing as a new image.
- A new possibility to sort out the image list by random attributes in File Manager.
- Image printing capabilities are extended – an image with overlaid vector maps can be printed out.
Delivery and training
The software is supplied with new hardware keys with a USB interface.
User’s guide is updated and tutorials are prepared for a more detailed study of the software product.
Free ScanMagic Lite demo version is available at ScanEx’s web-site:
http://support.scanex.com/temp/mail/ScanMagicLite180_Setup.zip. This is a free non time-limited fully functional version without data export possibility.
ScanEx Center invites all to the ScanMagic training courses, regularly arranged by the ScanEx leading specialists. After the training all students will receive graduation certificates.
If you are already the user of this software, you can upgrade the old version to ScanMagic v.1.8 for 200 EURO only!
